Indie Projects

When I’m not working in corporate, I can be found drawing on my iPad jamming to my Spotify Release Radar. I am the queen of picking up new hobbies that feed my soul.

Sol

I was inspired by the sun, how it can be warm and fleeting, but it’s gaze can also be intense.

Drawn with Adobe Photoshop.

Charlie

Charlie is a portrait that plays with the whimsical and simple shapes. The first, headshot of just the pink and blue is a personal favorite and helped me deviate from the more detailed illustrations I was used to drawing. The second, showed more of Charlie was a challenge to myself to incorporate more colors and retain the simplicity.

Created with Adobe Illustrator.

Jas Curry

I created this for a client that wanted to surprise her partner with a custom illustration for his 30th birthday. This was a print poster for the guests to sign well-wishes during the birthday celebration.

My client gave me wide creative freedom. I iterated several sketches of her as Sailor Moon and her partner in a Golden State Warrior Jersey with his favorite shoes. To help the client along each step of the process, I advised on different types of poster paper to print with that was best suited for signing.

Photo Contest

I was the creative director for an entry to a photo contest, where I had to conceptualize, direct, and edit the entry in 24-hour time crunch. I sourced the help of Bay Area photographer @envisual for this project. I wanted this to be whimsical, capture that excitement of the drinks with Miyazaki characters and feel like a real ad.

This whole project was a bit on the silly side, since believe it or not, I spent the bulk of the 24 hours actually drawing and cutting out the characters then taping it to the poster board. It pushed my creativity because we also had to jerry-rig a mini studio with poster board and get sufficient lighting in a dining room. All in all, this was a really fun project and pushed my limits in what I could accomplish in a short time span with limited equipment.

Created with mixed media, DSLR, and all the coloring done in Adobe Photoshop.

Photography

I was the photographer and creative director for this photoshoot. This set was created to provide backdrop and assets for a friend’s online lifestyle magazine.
